Roger,
I'm not printing the CD artwork from Photoshop, rather I'm using
Epson's "Print CD" application which does not let me choose a printer
profile. The Print Dialog box allows me to choose "No Color
Management" which is how I printed the Targets to begin with and how
I intend to print the artwork eventually.
Why use such a "primitive" application? The "Epson Print CD"
application allows fine adjustments of positioning and some quick and
basic art and titling effects, which is why I prefer using it for CD
printing. I print directly from Photoshop for everything else on paper.
So, my question remains, how do I prep the TIF file that I place into
the Print CD document?
The resulting file will only be printed to the CD through Epson Print
CD from that point onward.
Thanks!
Dale

Dale,
The answer lies in how you first printed that target to your two
CDs, IMO.
However you printed the targets to your CD is exactly the way you
should
always be printing your files to achieve consistent results. I
assume you
sent the target as RGB dat -- logical! So, to continue on that logic
dictates that any subsequent images that you wish to print onto
your CDs
should be printed the absolut same way, in the printer's RGB space,
because
that's how I understand you outputted your original EyeOne RGB 1.5
printer
target (you didn't say whether you'd sent from Photoshop?). So,
suppose you
have some nice sRGB image you're looking at in Photoshop. If I were
you,
then, I'd first convert the image it to your custom printer profile in
Photoshop and send it on down to the printer in this 'managed' way.
But you
could always send un-managed and select your printer profile in the
Print
dialog box to do the conversion there. But I would first make sure
you are
able to replicate the 'cake' receipe exactly bu sending 'un-managed'.
Best wishes to you to for a New Year!
I've mapped an EyeOne RGB 1.5 printer target to fit onto two CDs
which I will print out from Epson's Print CD application through an
Epson R300. From the printed CDs I'll create an ICC profile for use
in printing more accurate color on CDs.
My question concerns how to introduce the ICC profile into the
workflow?
Epson's Print CD application does not accept ICC profile references
at the Print stage. I'm used to printing directly from Photoshop
where Profiles are chosen and applied at print time.
So, do I assign the profile to the CD image in Photoshop? Convert to
Profile? What?
Best wishes for a New Year!
