I've read and averaged several GRACoL P2P23xn test forms in different
orientations off a press sheet sheet in Measure Tool with a UVcut
Eyeone on a Mac. Plates were linear as this was a calibration run.
For convenience, Measure Tool is a quick way for me to look at and
calculate dot gain curves to help determine how my presses are doing.
This method generally agrees with my handheld X-rite 528. I'm not G7
just yet, still TVI. I use the P2P with several other calibration
ramps on the sheet to determine.
For fun, I went ahead and created an ICC profile of the averaged
measure data of the P2P from the calibration run. I saw that when I
open the profile in ColorThink Pro, in the Profile Inspector, under
the curves tab, under neutral rendering, there's this way cool
feature that shows dot gain curves of the ICC profile in tenths of
percents.
Here's what I don't understand, when I compare the Measure Tool
measurement data dot gain to the ICC profile dot gain in ColorThink
Pro, the curves are nearly identical, except that they are complete
mirrors of each other. 0=100, 25=75, 75=25, 100=0.
Can anyone help with what I'm not understanding or what I'm seeing?
Thanks,
Scott Campbell
