So if my monitor can't resolve between 0 - 3 then it really is moot for me. Possibly not for Andrew.

But my 4 year old monitor can still distinguish between zero and 1 which is ideal and what I expect from a display newer than my very old Artisan. Why spend more and get less?

In the ‘old days’ a lot of users wouldn’t think of spending the $1800 or so for an Artisan. Today that’s not a lot for a good display + Colorimeter and software. I guess I’m old fashioned but I expect the technology to get better and cheaper, not the later.
