There's absolutely no reason why sheetfed printers can't conform to a
standard print condition and supply a recipe for conversions.

I think the point was that the CMYK condition to which the images are separated to needs to be relevant to the process.


They have a far higher vested
interest in the success of the output and the look of the images.

Not really. The printer's are trying to earn a living, and presses are pretty pricey.
