RE: HP's New Printers
RE: HP's New Printers
Hi Marco -
I don't sell HPs, so can not quote pricing on the APS. I was given a figure
well below ProfileMaker, but don't know where it settled out at in the
final decision.
One can import outside profiles in the same way that one would for a 3rd
party media. I expect one's workflow might be to create the media name and
calibration, then profile on top of the calibration (even though an error
noting a missing profile might appear), and upload the profile to the
printer when complete to finish the process.
HP is investing huge amounts of resources into getting this right. I expect
that most photographers, prepress houses, and print for pay shops will not
concern themselves with the hardware or software costs when they look at
the return on investment and consumables pricing.

That's good, Jon, though it presents an added cost (how much, by the way?).
So, the question becomes: does the HP software present any obstacles in the
way of that type of workflow? Does it allow for that way of working? Or,
instead, does it only accept profiles created by its own profiling routines?
