Rich - in the color space I work in, cyan and magenta combine (or subtract)
to MAKE blue. A "greater proportion of cyan to magenta" equals red, to me. I
can't figure out what color you are talking about.

It reminds me of an art director who used to tell me, " Make it dirtier -
you know, add some mud to it". This is the basis for color management.
