BUT, here's a wrinkle that I did not have enough experience with
this printer to consider.
Hallo Dale,
I'm absolutely shure that you have a lot of experience in building
and using profiles.
The reason for my questions was to get an idea, how to solve the
problem with your target prints.
As you know, the media settings of the Epson printer driver are
presets for total ink limit and linearisation.
So there are different ways to create your profile.
1. Using a preset that is close to your paper (choosing by name) ->
That is what you did.
If this dosen't match your needs,
2. you can try another preset (name independent). For example
"Premium Semigloss Photo Paper" or somthing else.
If this setting delivers good target printouts, who cares about the
setting name ;-)
If this dosen't match your needs,
3. you can reduce the total ink limit manually, as Benedikt said, by
adjustments in the driver settings.
The only problem with this method of working is, that you have to do
it very careful because it can reduce the
gamut very quickly and you have to save this setting, to use it for
each printout.
4. If your target printout is to dark, but does not spread out after
drying about 30 minutes, try using a target with much
more patches. With this target you will get more patches in the
brighter area as well and then you'll have enough
informations to create a good profile.
If your software doesn't allow you to use targets with more than
1500 patches, simply download ColorPort from the
X-Rite site. With ColorPort you can measure nearly every target with
your iOne.
At our website ( www.colorxact.eu ) you'll find our Online Profiler,
which is a full featured ICC profiling software with
an easy to use web interface.
While the public beta period the usage is totally free. So there is
no risk for you.
I hope this helped a little bit.
Best regards,
Clemens Beisch
