Problem solved.
To those who responded to my original post concerning the problem
with overly dark prints from a newly installed Epson 3800 with
ColorBurst RIP - thanks! All of your suggestions were followed up on,
but it was - after all - something much less involved than anything
you suggested.
The problem had nothing to do with matching profiles to unrecognized
stock, rather the missing preset components from the ColorBurst Print
menu (the list which begins "Copies & Pages", Layout, etc). The two
items I was missing were "Print Settings" and "Printer Color
Management". By establishing direct network printing to the 3800, and
creating a preset using Epson's Driver including the missing
information contained in "Print Settings" and "Printer Color
Management", I was able to access that preset from ColorBurst and
print successfully. New presets however need to be built outside of
ColorBurst.
Anyone working with an Epson 3800 and the ColorBurst RIP (full
featured X-Proof) on a Mac, you can contact me off list.
Thanks,
Dale Hoffman
