Marco,
I've heard estimates that about 50% of all scientific work is rubbish. And
having been a scientist for most of my working life, I would not be at all
surprised at that estimate! Early in my career, an eminent scientist said
that there are first order 'facts', and second order 'facts' - those that
will stand the test of time and those that won't, and he implied that an
awful lot of scientific 'facts' came into the second category.
I like the quotations attributed to Niels Bohr:-
"An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be made in a
very narrow field"
"Your theory is crazy, but it's not crazy enough to be true."
Bob Frost.

My opinion about "every serious color scientist working with imaging" is
actually not very high.
Gosh, what a presumptuous thing to say...
As of today color science is vastly vodoo science, a pile of
controversial
information, half baked theories developed in a particular context and
used
in another where they do not really apply.
Yea, sure, the scientists at R.I.T.'s Munsell Color Science Lab are just a
bunch of pathetic hacks? Please, let's get back to Earth...or the label of
"pathetic" will soon find its proper place instead.
