Andrew,
As long as we've been talking about gamma in a parallel thread,
technically speaking (as you know), the gamma of sRGB is not exactly
2.2, but rather, it is a grafting together of two different
functions, that when viewed together, may be approximated by a simple
2.2 gamma curve. When using a simple gamma function, Photoshop calls
this "Simplified sRGB." The effect of the 2 equations is to closely
fit a straightforward gamma 2.2 curve with an slight offset to allow
for invertability in integer math. For details, see, for example,
<http://www.color.org/sRGB.xalter> or <http://www.w3.org/Graphics/
Color/sRGB>.
So, does LR use the "sRGB gamma" or a simple gamma of 2.2? Inquiring
minds wanna know!
