Yeah I know - sometimes I think I've must of been dreaming!

Well externally (and visually internally - imaging drums, toners etc) they
look the same as the 7750s - but the techs tell me this printer borrows much
more from the Xerox copier technology than the previous engineering of the
Xerox Tektronix Phaser division.
Though CMS wise it's no different - since PhaserMatch 3.0 (now 4.0) from
Monaco was used by our 7750s also - albeit as an add on option (which we
were of course using). PhaserCal (which is included within PhaserMatch) is
the spectro-based calibration/linerization portion of the software, and is
included as part of the standard printer software on both the 7750s and the
7760s.

By 'basic calibration' - are you referring to the printable visual
calibration charts from the printer menu? - where you are asked to pick the
most neutral patch and manually enter a number? There is also an 'Advanced
Calibration' which includes more patches for both Light calibration and Dark
calibration.
Well yes we have used these - but were expecting the spectro-based
calibrations to be the superior method (hey! Even the manual says so! ;-) -
after all - is this not the very purpose of the PhaserMatch/PhaserCal
software - to let the software/hardware do the calibrations?
