Basically there are two different things to do:
Linearization (day to day, week to week)
- keeps the printer stable day to day
- done with the standard PhaserMatch software
- best with an EyeOne
- should be performed on the same paper every time
Profiling (once in theory, but depends on your quality requirements)
- printers differ. So there has to be a way to get them into the same
gamut.
- PhaserMatch provides some simple mechanism to create profiles,
but tools like ProfileMaker and basICColor do a way better job
- PhaserMatch uses a kind of device link profiles, which need to be
generated for each printer separately:
+ linearise your printers
+ Profile your printers (Phaser1.icc, Phaser2.icc etc)
+ Select your simulation profile (like SWOP, ISOcoated v2)
+ Create the device link profiles for each printer for this
simulation
(like SWOP_Phaser1, SWOP_Phaser2 etc.)
+ Download these Profiles to the printer's memory
When simulating a SWOP print you use SWOP_Phaser1 on the first printer,
SWOP_Phaser2 on the second etc.
Hope this helps,
Karsten
