Converting to ISO Coated V2 We have the FOGRA CMYK Media Wedge V2.0 - which has a copyright date of
2004.

On the FOGRA website - they now list a V2.1 - but the PDFs links on the same
page are talking about (and picturing) the V2.0 - ©2004

UGRA website also lists CMYK Media Wedge V2.1 - but their image shows a
copyright date 2006

But confusing - I've also seen press releases (from EFI) in April 2007 -
announcing support of the New UGRA/FOGRA Media Wedge V2.2 - but no mention
of this V2.2 on either UGRA or FOGRA websites.

Does anyone know what color differences there are between the old V2.0 and
V2.1 or V2.2
Knowing this could not a user simply update the V2.0 EPS or TIFF color
patches and black & grey wedges to reflect new values?
Hi Joseph
I "believe" the new MediaWedge has the Grey Balance CMY% and relevant K% from the much improved Fogra 39 print runs mentioned by Dan. Any data used to verify this wedge needs to have the relevant Lab values for these Grey steps and for the primaries, which should be to the latest version of ISO 12647-2. Also check out the ECI website http:// www.eci.org/eci/en/060_downloads.php, where they have a new "ECI/bvdm Gray Control Strip". and relevant pdf manual. Armed with this info, and the Fogra 39 Data Set, you "could" perhaps update the control strip EPS images yourself, or make your own,(X-Rite ColorPort?) maybe for internal use until the official ones are available and incorporated in your proofing software.
Having been at the BPIF "test day" last year, when Fogra 27, 39 and Gracol G7 were printed in various combinations, I concur with Dan's recommendations. But get the Proofer sorted out first in order to check your images.
