Yes, it does and yes it is. I assumed that clicking "preserve CMYK" upon
output meant to really and truly "preserve CMYK", but it doesn't. You're
right in that you need to select "Preserve Numbers (Ignore Linked
Profiles)" in your color settings, prior to opening the document, as
well as "preserve CMYK" when outputting, and you'll get unmolested CMYK.
So the key is to disable the profiles upon opening the document. So I
suppose I'll have to re-think having my color settings synchronized
between InDesign and Photoshop...I want to, by default, view images I
Photoshop honoring the embedded profile, but that lead to my problem in
InDesign.
