I do have an issue with the choice ColorBurst made a few years back to cut
off access to printer features like print resolution, ink type, etc. (this
refers to the Macintosh version -- I have no idea if the same also applies
to the Windows version), and to make these features available only by
starting off using one of their pre-baked profiles.
I find that awkward and somewhat indifferent to a professionally-minded way
of working. (The explanation I got from a company representative was
something along the lines that it's friendlier to the user this way...not
the professional user, I suspect.)
Also, another debatable choice was to require a UV-cut spectrophotometer for
the linearization procedure, without offering the option to use one that is
not UV-cut. Personally I don't have a UV-cut spectro, so I find this
limitation irritating.
(Puzzling choice, that one: you would think that the same user who would
love the "friendlier" interface would also not be sophisticated enough to
think of buying a UV-cut spectro.)
