Rich,
I need to handle vector and raster exactly the same.

Here's one interesting twist as for vectors and rasters.
I've seen artists create rich black backgrounds in a PDF with, say,
100%K
and 40%C and placed in InDesign for output, along with other images
and
mixed graphics on the same PDF. No idea where this PDF was created,
possibly
with AiCS.
What kind of controls would you want InDesign to offer on output to
color
manage this kind of element?
That's a good question, and I don't have a ready answer. Maybe there
could be a switch to pass rich black vector/native through untouched
with a place to define what is rich black.
One last thing: wouldn't you want to use separate intents for both
kinds of
ocjects, Rich?
I don't. I've never understood why you would want to. That would mean
that you're changing the definition, or appearance, of a color based
on format. That seems like a very bad idea to me.
