I don't. I've never understood why you would want to.
Every ICC-aware application I know of has always offered this choice.
Yes, many have. I don't get it. I assumed this was a throw-back to
when we were trying to decide whether or not to color-manage vector
data at all.
That would mean
that you're changing the definition, or appearance, of a color based
on format.
Not "format", just vector vs raster. Where do you see the idea of
"format"
in here? Maybe we mean the same thing but use different words :(
Yes, we mean the same thing. By invoking this kind of division,
you're saying that the same color will mean two different things,
depending on whether it's built/applied in raster or vector format.
I understand from a "press" point of view, you don't really care to
make the
distinction -- everything a client supplies, in CMYK, is considered
to be in
the same color space, regardless of content (vector vs raster).
It IS in the same color space, or it's about to be. The press doesn't
differentiate between between what was vector and what was raster.
But that's not optimal, in my view. I would't want nice vector
saturated
color tints to be treated the same way as raster images. Whathever the
source space. That's why I'd like to have the option.
I don't get it. Why?
And, referring to one of your posts from yesterday, why should Ai
files be treated as PDFs? I understand that there is essentially a
PDF inside each "PDF Compatible" Ai file, but why should a simple
logo, or illustration, be treated like a full-blown PDF? I just need
to get the graphic into the layout. All output intent and color
management, et cetera, will happen THERE.
