Clearly, Andrew and I see things the same way. I send my inkjet
clients Monaco Profiler profiles, because I like their smoothness, and
smoothness is very important for photo work.
I have been very vocal to GMB/Xrite regarding the excellent qualities
of Monaco as I see them, without dissing PMP which is ALSO an
excellent tool, and beloved by many in the printing trade.
It would seem that other users have equally made their views known on
their desire to retain the best features of both packages. As a
result, word on the street is that the users will get both sets of
rendering engines built into any merged product when it comes out, and
thus have a safe upgrade path - existing workflows should be
maintained.

Apples and oranges. I think the PROFILER color engine is still smoother than
GMB. If you print gradients, you'll see this. That's probably my biggest
gripe with ProfileMaker Pro when I compare the two. GMB (when they were GMB)
did update this in 5.05 but it could still use more work. Might be moot now
that its one big (happy?) family.
