On the issue of projector profiles:
I eat my own dog food and use Calibrize for a quick profiling and calibration of a projector.

This is for PC. For Mac you can use the monitor calibration utility which is more or less similar to Calibrize. For PC you may also use Adobe Gamma (included with Photoshop), which works fine as well. Obviously these are strictly low-end solutions but in most cases good enough for a presentation and cheap as well. (We're actually working on a free and projector friendly version of Calibrize...)
