Mike
You can (or could at the time) get the license from Gretag. Whether x-rite
is offering the same license I don't know. Nor do I know if something
promised at one point in time can be changed by the license owner as for
example, can x-rite revoke my current "permission"? I've no idea.
As I remember reading somewhere, the license to distribute generic profiles
was 10s of thousands of dollars a year as it was oriented towards for
example Epson distributing profiles for their papers with their printers.
Marco,
Perhaps you see something that I"m missing but I think its pretty clear
because my question was specific about using GM's tools for making custom
profiles to sell over the internet.
1) He specifically says its ok to distribute the targets
2) He specifically says its ok to have a profiling business
I'm assuming (ok ok, but really, is this not the common language meaning
for these words that)
1) Generic profiles are what Illford or HP might distribute with their
products.
2) We (and I'm humbled to include myself with most of you who know so much
more than I) are allowed to make 3rd party custom profiles but not generic
ones. Or at least we were on 25/9/03.
Cheers
Eric
