We would like to clarify on the rights on the ICC profiles created by
X-Rite¹s Profilemaker software.
In June 2005 we issued the present license agreement (EULA) according to
which the ICC profiles can be used on your own equipment. You may also
distribute these ICC profiles to third parties which use them in connection
with your own equipment. Furthermore, consultants may create ICC profiles
for their clients to be used on the equipment owned by the clients. In
addition another category of use is based on profiles using information
provided by professional or standards associations (like ECI, Ifra, CRACoL,
SWOP,). All these applications are free of charge.
However, it is correct that the distribution of generic profiles in
conjunction with the sale of e.g. camera¹s, printers or consumables is not
covered by the permissions given in the said EULA. In this case a specific
vendor license is needed.
No limitations are included in the EULA with regard to the charts.
We do appreciate your valuable contribution in supporting the usage of ICC
profiles and I hope that this statement clarifies all open questions.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly in case of any further
questions.
