This is exactly my understanding and experience. This topic comes up here
every couple years and we end up in the same place (which is a good place).
How any of this may change in future products from either of the big two
(now the big ONE), the history is pretty clear to me. My direct experience
when a large company wanted me to build a profile they could distribute, I
contacted GMB and was told the fee this company would need to pay them so I
could generate the profile as an outside consultant. Very tidy, the people I
contacted seemed to handle this as if they do it all the time. For a
photographer who's got a 9800 and wants a profile, there's no issues for
outside consultants to provide this service under the EULA.
