That's true. The 17" iMac has a different panel. You see this in the
specs on the Apple homepage. The 20" and 23" are comparable.
Be aware that "viewing angles" in the specs relate to a minimum
contrast (usually of 10:1). A good "contrast" viewing angle in the
specs gives you only an indication of the color shift you experience.
If you're looking for the best viewing angle in real world usage I'd
suggest the Eizo C210/CG211 or Quato Intelli Proof 213 -- both using a
great Hitachi panel.
