Does anyone know what might cause a sizing inaccuracy on the 9500.
My prints are 1/16 of an inch short. (20x24 becomes 20 x 2315/16.
Can't find an alignment for this. It appears to be happening on
paper but not canvas. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Most roll-fed printers don't feed different media types as accurately
as many of us would like. The problem is how the different media
types track along the friction rollers the printers use: some "slip"
more than others.
Many printers have a tracking calibration system built into their
controller software; I don't have an Epson 9500 but the two HP 5000
series printers I use have this.
Problem is the correction needed is different for the four or five
media types I use regularly, but can't be calibrated properly for
each media type.
I have to go with the setting that works for 75% of what I print,
knowing I don't get 100% exact length on the other 25%.
My work-around has been to keep logs of the length discrepancies for
the affected media types, then scale the output as needed (in my RIP
software) to account for the anomalies.
