Just to to my previous post, the same behavior occurs when outputting to
Postscript (as opposed to EPS as explained in my previous post). Here are a
couple PDF examples showing what I'm talking about. The PDFs were generated
from Postscript output from InDesign.

The red box in the lower right illustrates the issue. That is an untagged
RGB TIFF placed into the InDesign doc. The RGB values are 240-20-20. When
converted to CMYK on export, the resulting values should be the same in each
file, but they're not.
Viewing each file's values using Acrobat 7's Output Preview tool with
Simulation Profile set to Photoshop 5 Default CMYK, the values of the red
box are:
