Hello Peter,
[Different readings with i1 in different orientations]
you haven't noted which i1 revision you use.
Rev. A
Does anybody else see this?
Yes and no. With Rev. A and B you'll experience this
effect, while
Revision D will show nearly no difference. I have been
told that there
would be a document on the X-Rite homepage which
describes that the i1
would be falsly acclaimed to give monitor measurements
which vary with
the measurement angle. I have not found that document,
any pointers
are highly appreciated. But we tested Rev. A, B and D
and found that Rev. D is much improved in this regard.
There is a difference between a claim and a measurement
many have confirmed! However, lets try to find that
document first...
The colorimeters will also show _some_ variation, but in
practical use
that's not important IMO, because normally you'll hang
down the EyeOne
Display, DTP94 or whatever you use. :-)
I partially agree. True, for calibration tasks which
require lenghtly procedures, this is the best way.
However, in the last three years, I received many
questions from users users who had matching problems when
spot checking their display calibration. This is often
done for a few colors only and the instrument is placed by
hand. When you measure a patch in a display corner, the
chances of having a rotated instrument are quite high!
Unless you are aware of the problem, everyone who want to
make such a measurement will fall into the trap.
It is good to know that Rev D is better in this regard.
Thanks for the info.
