Is there a downside to having an Eye One with the UV cut filter in

Yes, you're stuck with only making profiles for viewing situations
that have no U.V. !
I don't follow? I would have expected Lee is stuck with only making profiles
for viewing situations that *HAVE* UV, no?
It's not complicated. To be accurate, the instrument should
measure with similar illumination to how humans are going to
view things.
If your instrument is filtering out UV in the light it is using
to illuminate the samples, then it's readings reflect the behaviour
of the samples without FWA being active. So of course the readings
are inaccurate if applied to viewing situations where there is UV,
and FWA is active.
So UV filtered instruments make profiles that are only valid if the
media is viewed in an environment devoid of UV.
