Todd:

I don't know if anyone has responded to this yet, or not. The Eizo Flexscan L997 was the core product for the ColorEdge CG-210 model. The specs are identical because it is the same monitor. From what I had heard, Eizo tests all L997's and only the top performing (10-20%) of L997's (those with the cleanest spec and tightest tolerances) were chosen to be a ColorEdge CG-210 or a CG-21 (the CG-210's predecessor).

This is of course past tense as the CG-210 has been discontinued and was replaced with the CG-211. I'm not sure if the L997 (in it's native form) is still the core product for the CG-211's. Someone from Eizo should probably answer this question. The big difference between the CG-210 and the CG-211 is that the CG-211 has Eizo's 'uniformity regulating' technology, which positions sensors in a grid pattern across the panel to measure and compensate uniformity differences. IMHO, this model has never had any uniformity issues (at all), but I've heard that Eizo plans on introducing this technology to other models and panels as they are introduced.

I'm not familiar with Basicolor, but I'm assuming it isn't capable of
hardware (DDC) calibration? If that's the case, I would be curious
what REAL difference there is between these monitors as well. Their
specs are completely identical, and the above FAQ is the only thing I
could find anywhere about why you would pay $1000 more for one vs.
the other. Anyone?
