Excuse me asking a possibly rather trivial question: What rendering
intent is (normally) used when converting an image that is defined in
a color space which is bigger than the color space of the screen is
displayed?
I recently came across an image defined in sRGB that contained
magenta (or violet) tones which seemed to use the full gamut of sRGB.
My 15" MBP display's gamut (according to the monitor profile created
by my calibration device) is noticeable smaller than sRGB,
particularly for magenta tones. Viewed in a CM-aware application
these highly saturated magenta tones seemed be cut off, indicating
that relative colorimetric rendering intent is used.
