You'd probably want to be comparing to the 7880 instead of the 7800
and, for your type of work, I would consider the HP Z3100 (12 inks)
over the Z2100. And I can't help but mention GMG Colorproof for it's
excellent RGB profile rendering and precision calibration methodology.
I wish I was in a position to provide you with some test prints but
I've only got the Epson 4000 and 4800 in-house and am looking to get
one of the HP Z printers soon.

Wow I just looked on HP's site at the Z2100! 200+ years and a Dmax
for blacks that is better than Epson, is what they claim. The Dmax
is so important for my fine prints. It is why I have stuck with the
Epson 7000 with dye inks for so long, trading longevity for image
quality. And now that I can afford a new printer, I will have to
research this matter more thoroughly, getting test prints from
Epson's 7800 and HP's Z2100. I wonder if there are any dealers that
carry both and can make test prints. Hmmm.
