iOne Pro: Wow, 35 or 36 bands in 10 nm steps, but only measuring 3.5
nm for each 10 nm band? (According to the on-line brochure).
No, the underlying CCD measures (approximately) at 3.5 nm spacing (and
naturally these bands overlap), and then it is re-sampled (and applies
wavelength calibration) down to 10nm spacing.
It's nothing tricky, just a diffraction grating and a 1D CCD in both
instruments.
Are you saying that the iOne reads 3 overlapping bands at 3.5 nm and
then applies the 3 readings after they have been averaged and
calibration corrected, to one 10 nm band?
My SpectroCam has 72 5nm bands. That's twice the resolution!
It's twice what's presented by the standard iOne Pro interface.
I've written a driver that also allows a 3.3 nm readings, although
the discrimination isn't that fine on either instrument I think
you will find. (ie. if you shine a monochromatic light at them.
more than one band will respond).

won't get a new spectro after all. A serial to USB adapter will work.
I just wonder how weak a link the old ProfilerPro package is, since
none of the new profiling packages support it. Or can the newer
profiling packages import the measurement table output by the
SpectroCam?
You could almost certainly translate the readings so as to use
them with any package.
That's good news. I guess then I will first look for the best display
calibrator (colorimeter). I wonder if anyone has tested or otherwise
evaluated the new Spyder3??
