Colorbyte Software provides a robust RIP that runs on both Macs &
PC's, highly regarded by imaging professionals.

If your friend is in the print design business they will probably
want a RIP
that has a relationship to ISO and other print standards such as
SWOP and
Gracol. I know for sure that ColorBurst is SWOP and Gracol
certified. I am
not sure about the other RIPS that have been mentioned so far in this
thread.
But If they want to make just pretty pictures ( say like photos or
design
prints) all of these RIPs will do that (very nicely) with the
current crop
of professional ink jets.

Anyone had much success with Mac EFI RIP Designer Edition - version
4.2
or the later 5.x?
Also looking for any suggestions or hiccups encountered when using
this
under OSX.
I'm using OSX.4.6 with an Epson running Epson dye inks and Epson
papers
with Epson stock profiles.
