Similar arguments apply, but for monitors there are additional
reasons: The operating systems typically do not apply profiles
to all the GUI elements, so if you change the white point
away from native for instance, it greatly helps if the whole
screen, not just a proofing application window, shift
white point as well, otherwise it's going to be difficult
for observers to fully adapt to it.
Calibration also helps the appearance of anything else that
is not color managed on the display.
