I find it interesting that even reference-grade spectroradiometers have
limits to their usefulness depending on which standard their specifications
are referenced to, and on other factors as well.
There has been forceful disagreement on this forum about using low-cost
colorimeters to perform the verification routine in commercial profiling
packages, and regarding the necessity to use reference-grade instruments
(like the PR-650 or the CS-1000) to obtain high-quality data on the absolute
accuracy of the signals produced by a monitor profile. But it seems that
even that route is fraught with potential pitfalls.
