You certainly could give them your Distiller settings. I would suggest
that you instead give them PDF Export settings from InDesign CS3
instead. The settings files, .joboptions, are now common through the
Creative Suite and are backwards compatible with previous versions.
While you're sending that file you might as well package together a .CSF
file and your ICC profiles (if you can) so that they have have
everything they need and you want.
Or you make it easy on yourself and you have them install an Enfocus
InstantPDF queue that has all of this built in. And you have the added
benefit of controlling the PDF creation process, preflighting process,
document review and transmission of the document with a complete
preflight history. Not to mention if it "fails" preflight it tells the
customer right away and doesn't let them automatically send you a "bad" PDF.
