When you say "ambient correction" is this indeed a correction? If so, what?

The Spyder 3, the huey and now the ColorMunki all offer an "adjustment" to the ambient light; especially the huey was advertised with this feature. You would think that a *color* management device would adjust the white point to the ambient light, which, if this really worked, would make sense. Instead, they alter the *contrast* of the image according to the ambient luminance. If you want to work in earnest, this is junk, because in contrast (no pun intended) to the white point adaption of the human visual faculty, there is no such thing as "contrast adaption". It's a marketing spin that only hurts the idea of color management IMHO.
