The software does what a consultant would do: make the customer aware of that
ambient light level they are working under, and whether that level is
appropriate, as well as whether it is stable. Then it recommends appropriate target
values for that condition. If the viewer insists on differing viewing
conditions, then multiple targets and profiles would indeed be appropriate, but
typically one appropriate and consistant condition is the goal.

Absolutely not; it simply warns the user if conditions change, and assists
them in keeping them consistant and appropriate. An expert might well choose to
turn these features off; most end users can profit by the education and
information they provide.
