It also depends on how dedicated a company is to innovation and research. Without a commitment to trying out and evaluating new technologies, one ends up doing things the same old way, until one day you realize that the rest of the community has moved forward and left you behind.
Like most things, one has to seek out change, try it and see if it works. No one else can guarantee that any one thing will work for you.
Also, an oppositional mindset that starts off by questioning new techniques with diffidence and hostility is usually not very conducive to advancing one's knowledge, I would think: better to start from a position of curiosity and adventure. But that's just me talking... :-)

Well, that's why the commitment must start from the *company's* interest and investment in testing and researching new ways to improve workflows, and establish ways to increase productivity while increasing quality and lowering costs (= increasing profits). What can be wrong with that? But none of it will happen if the company washes its hands of the whole business of technological advancements, and instead expects to take a free ride at the expense of the employees' own personal time and through impossible demands on their already harried work schedules.

Me too... :-)
