PMP has an amazing integration with the iSis -barcodes- which could be
a significant factor if you have an intense or stressful workflow. If
I remember my tests rightly, you just throw a target into the iSis and
the software retrieves the reference file automagically, and know
which page you're feeding in. This makes the operation fussfree and
minimizes errors.
You have to select "Chart with Barcode" of course but it's pretty
cool. I've found that you can't "throw" the charts into the iSis from
more than about 4 feet away. Its a tiny slot and you must take good
aim. :-) On the other hand, if you're good with tossing playing cards
in a hat and your able to always get the lead edge of the chart into
the iSis, you might have better luck than I!
Bug Alert! Bug Alert!
Months ago I ran across a bug with the Barcode feature where, if you
were creating a custom chart layout and selected a page size that
allowed more than one chart page to be placed on the layout, the
resulting bar codes were FUBAR. Essentially, each bar code indicated
it was "Page 1". The workaround was to manually select the chart
reference data and proceed as you normally would without the bar code.
AFAIK this bug is not fixed yet even though I reported it to X-Rite.
As long as you create a custom page size that won't allow more than
one chart per page, bar codes work fine.
I think if you want to use iSis with Monaco Profiler you have to go
through Colorport. On the other hand, profiler is well integrated with
the DTP70 which is discontinued but still a beautiful instrument if
you're lucky enough to own one already. Profiler is my own favorite
because of its look but this is a personal choice.
ColorPort seems to work fine with the iSis although it lacks the
ability to capture both UVcut and No FIlter measurements at the same
time, something I do all the time with ProfileMaker Measure Tool. If
you need both sets of measurements, its nice to be able to grab them
all with one pass through the instrument.
