I've often found useful data sets at Fogra where there no N. American
equivalent existed. I would add to Terry's recommendation that you
might edit the white point of your new profile to bring it in line
with the color of the actual press stock being used by your client,
where available. This can have a large beneficial effect on the
quality of the proof-press match.

Hi John,
As of yet there's no "official" G7 Uncoated dataset/profile but it's
supposedly in the works but is probably months away.
I've personally tested the FOGRA 29 data set (ISO Uncoated profile)
and find that it is very close to what a "G7 uncoated" data set would
probably look like. My confirmation was to run a standard G7 P2P25
target through this profile and then inspect the results in the
IDEALink Curve software and see how it complies with the NPDC tone
curve and gray balance. I find it close enough that I use it at
customer sites when setting up a "G7" proofing system. I've also used
it when building device links for the pressroom for uncoated stocks
and it seems to work well (no complaints!).
Regards,
Terry Wyse
