Hi Richard.

We have a slightly more proactive approach in that we do our level best to get it right , rather than adopting a methodology that is based on avoiding blame. Unfortunately this relies on getting the relevant information from the printer or prepress as to the required CMYK spec. And that's the real hurdle. For whatever reason , commercial advantage , secrecy , the lack of will or ability to supply a profile , or even just plain ignorance of a managed workflow , it's nearly always an uphill struggle.

Printers make money through efficiency. We want your files in and out as quickly as possible.

So why it the norm to get for it to be a real problem in receiving CMYK specifications from printers and prepress for us suppliers ? Not a criticism , just an honest request as to why this should always be such an issue .

For every nightmare tale you've got, I've got 20 or 30 about "interesting" file construction techniques and folks who couldn't spell X-Y-Z.

But then again , couldn't we all <BG> !

Regards,

Bob Marchant.
