Jean,
I don't have a ip5300 Canon ink-jet printer myself. ButI suppose you could
successfully get color-managed results out of this printer under OSX. A lot
hinges on the Canon RGB driver. If it's anything like the legacy Canon RGB
printer driver I am familiar with there is no reason you could not get
results independent of whathever process you chose to use to manage color
upstream, as in Photoshop.
Personnally, I never use "Printer Manages Color" in Photoshop. Either I
print with no color management or use Photoshop to do the conversion at
print time.
You may want to investigate a small printing RIP to get ultimate control of
your color under OSX -- or under any OS, for that matter.
