FOGRA's certifications last for 12 months.
We never bothered getting re-certified after that initial period
because we've made no changes to the proofing workflow and still use
the same inks, RIP, engine and substrates.
We also saw no direct commercial benefit from the certification
itself. For 12 whole months we were the only certified provider of ISO
Web Coated proofs in the UK - nobody called us and ordered proofs
because of it :-(
The majority of our proofs are measured before delivery - most of our
work is on ad campaigns - so we are testing whether we conform over
and over again each day.
I'd recommend using at least two different spectros in your workflow
so that your output quality isn't verified by one type of device. ISTR
that FOGRA measured the proofs that we submitted for certification
with 3 different devices.
