What kind of cameras are you referring to? I've been doing art repro
with digital backs, primarily Hassey, for 5 years, and gave up on
back profiling years ago. However, the software that drives my backs
has a repro mode, which eliminates the curve most software / firmware
adds to images by default. Also, using a series of known targets
within the shot area for the art repro does wonders. Giclées are
virtual copies of the originals.
Curious to hear more - I haven't look at back profiling in probably 2
to 3 years now, cause it wasn't mature enough back then!
