The following use cases will hopefully clarify my point.
I like your use cases. Allow me to complete them with the "Clipping Alarm":
1) Colorimetric Rendering Intent; Out-of-Gamut color
* Gamut Alarm: flag RAISED
* Color Alarm: flag RAISED
* Clipping Alarm: flag RAISED
2) Colorimetric RI; In-Gamut color
* Gamut Alarm: flag DOWN
* Color Alarm: flag DOWN
* Clipping Alarm: flag DOWN
3) Perceptual RI: Source In-Gamut color whose Destination color has been
moved via Tonal Mapping
* Gamut Alarm: flag DOWN
* Color Alarm: flag RAISED
* Clipping Alarm: flag DOWN
4) perceptual intent: Source out-of-gamut, mapped to a place /inside/
the destination gamut:
* Gamut Alarm: flag RAISED
* Color Alarm: flag RAISED
* Clipping Alarm: flag DOWN
5) colorimetric or perceptual intent: Source out-of-gamut, mapped to
the /hull/ of the destination gamut:
* Gamut Alarm: flag RAISED
* Color Alarm: flag RAISED
* Clipping Alarm: flag RAISED
gamut alarm <=> source out of destination gamut (source not
representable with destination device)
color alarm <=> source and destination colors are different
clipping alarm <=> source mapped to the hull of destination gamut
(probable loss of details)
