Film, for sure. This was 1995 after all. Don't recall whether that's
documented in the TR-001 report itself.

One could argue, though, that G7 killed print contrast. With printers
concentrating on achieving the holy grail of gray tone aims, who's to say
how well presses are able to hold good shadow detail now?

I'm sure they do too, irregardless of calibration approach.
