I am doing some work with Hexachrome printing, using conversions from
canned profiles as well as I have created Hexachrome press profiles
from our press. The workflow is better than it was in the late 90's,
however still cumbersome especially when Adobe natively ignores the
Hexachrome profiles, and Pantone Hexaware is quite clunky and labour
intensive (unsupported to run on OSX intel machines). Why does our
industry leader Adobe, not support advanced color conversions
natively? Hats off to Quark for doing an excellent job with color
management in fully supporting Hexachrome in version 7, they have set
a fine example for the rest of the industry to step up and match
Quark capabilities. Does anyone know if Adobe is planning to develop
native support for Hexachrome, as a composite PSD, PDF, And if Apple
will support the recognition of a Hexachrome profile as an output
source for accurate soft proofing?
