A client of mine is a small agency, (about 10 people), with an HP Z3100. Their workflow has them printing from Quark 7 and Illustrator CS3. Since I have not worked with this printer before I had a few questions I was hoping the list members could answer.

1) I know this has a built in EyeOne and can build it's own profiles. How are the profiles then applied?

In a rip or the printer driver.

2) Since the client does not have a RIP running this printer what would be the best way to get color managed prints when printing from Quark 7? And Illustrator?

Colorconvert in the RIp. How is a matter of which RIP.
BE aware that they will need the advanced profile kit to be able to build CMYK profiles (for the RIP).
Also that it is somewhat slow in reading patches.

3) I know Quark 6.5 had poor color management at the best. How much better is Quark 7's. (I know it has better options - how well do they work?)

Ignore color in quark and use the RIP's features.
