Hi Martin and Graeme
How have you resolved your issues with the Ultrachrome inks and the
Pro 9600?
My prints are to direct to German Etching and FujiHunt Canvas. No
prepress.
(Pro 9600, Mac G5, OS 10.4.11, and MBP 10.5.4. Custom .icc profiles
with i1 Pro. Measure Tool, and i1 Match.)

Hi Martin,
Might not be relevant, but...
We are having a similar problem, with one patch on a TC3 chart
consistently being out by over 10dE, and us not managing to pull it
back in.
patch is C=10, M=80, Y=65, K=0. So not pure Cyan like your problem...
Also, this is on 9800 ...
Not sure if this is coincidence.. or dodgy Epson batches..
This has only happened in the last week.

We've noticed changes to the Cyan ink that we use on our Epson 9600s.
Two batches of the T5442 ink cartridges marked as:
03.2009 - 011A
10.2009 - 151A
Seem significantly different from the Cyan that we have been using
for the last 3 years.
I haven't got any samples of the previous colours to measure and
compare, but have been alerted to the difference because our FOGRA
proofs jumped from ~1dE to greater than 8dE in the 100% Cyan patch
and we are having real problems getting this back under 3dE.
Has anybody else noticed anything odd with Ultrachrome Cyan?

That's a different ink set the one we use on the 9600.
I did hear a rumour that some people are having problems with the
K3 yellow. If you don't shake the cartridges before installing them
you could get bitten by problems caused by settlement during
storage/transit.
Dunno how true that is, but I heard it from a good source while
discussing the problems we were getting with cyan.

Hello Martin,
That's a different ink set the one we use on the 9600.
Might not be related too, but Epson likes shuffling
the ink cartridges numbers.
The cartridges for the 4800 are the ones for the 4880 now.
But the 4800 has normal magenta, the 4880 has vivid magenta,
so there are different ones.
No easy for the customer to hit the right ones.
Maybe they have difficulties themselves to hit the right ones ;-)
