Keep in mind filtration (Uvcut or no) and rev level when comparing
instruments. What Rev level is your older i1 Pro? RevC and ealier can
measure significantly differently than the RevD i1s. I've compared
measurement data from an i1 Rev A to a Rev C model that was within 0.38
average delta E76, max 0.85 (for a P2P25 target), but a RevA comapred to
a RevD shows an average of 2.88 dE76, max 4.71 (I've heard that there's
plastic where there was once glass in the RevD, but can't confirm that).
Our RevA i1 actually correlates quite closely with our other Xrite
instruments (938, 939, ect), so I'm partial to the ealier i1s. The Isis
is using an LED illuminant, rather than incandescent. Comparing a RevA
to an Isis, (again using a P2P25 target) I saw an average of 1.09 dE76,
max 2.58. Not too bad considering, but I certainly wouldn't have been
surprised by a 4 delta E (dissappointed maybe, but not surpised).
>X-rite claims a fairly small delta-E between similar x-rite
instruments. This spec should be in your documentation-- usually on a
single sheet of paper, in there somewhere. "inter- instrument agreement"
>My Spectrolino sheet states, average inter-instrument agreement: .3 dE
, maximum 0.8 dE
>An ES-1000 spec sheet stated, avg inter-instrument agreement dE 0.4 ,
maximum dE 1.0
The stated inter-instrument agreement on those spec sheets is referring
to instruments of the same make and model, and I'd take it further and
include filtration and rev level in there as well. Suffice to say
interinstrument agreement can be problematic, and factory recalibration,
though helpful for a faulty device, doesn't necessarily address this
issue.
